Jet and Bone
Work created with varied methods of carving and CNC aided milling processes.

I choose to work in bone and jet- a black fossilized bog wood because the beauty of the material lends itself to resting well within the traditional history of jewelry. I also see these materials as being something which was once alive having the ability to live again in my pieces. Hand carving, pique,engraving- all of these methods I employ here are applied in new combinations to quote decorative traditions of the past. All of my jet jewelry deals with Memento Mori, “Remember Death”, which are meant to engage the living; to be both sobering and life affirming.
